Horoscope For July 2009

As a student of Astrology since 1975, I have listened to all the party talk about this sign and that sign and what they seem to be like. Of course, most people are talking about their particular Aries, their most beloved buddy – Taurus, or their hated parent – Gemini. When you hear people talk about a sun sign, you are most likely hearing about two or three (at the most) intimate, close (hated or loved) relationships they had with those signs. That’s fine. That’s the fun of it, and that’s our short hand way of figuring out our loved ones and also chatting about astrology. Since this is an art, along with the blending of astro talk and ancient texts which speak about the signs, there is no absolute fixity about this topic. However, there are elements of the sun signs which apart from subjective experience do tend to shine a light the way we manifest our characters in this earthly realm.

The Point of this Article:

There are tricks to getting along. I emphasize getting along, and do not emphasize, the words persuade, dissuade, win and argument with, dominate or seduce. Those topics are for other times. Getting along is, in a sense, what life first asks us to do, and in a way, its the hardest thing we are asked to do, especially with certain sun signs.

I remember a date I had in college in which my date talked 95% of the time. I nodded, made sweet nonverbal grunts, chuckled and threw in looks of whimsy and lifted my eye brows a lot. It was a fun time, and I was not bored. I still remember it though, for the compliment I received. She said, “Chris you are such a good conversationalist.” She did not say: “You listen well.” That night I was “getting along”. The effectiveness of my listening was that it was interpreted as talking. The point is to get along so that you will be viewed positively, and perhaps construed to be a different kind of person, maybe, than you really are. That’s OK, social lubricants make the world go ’round. So, what I am trying to impart is that you want to “get along” so that you can be well thought of, and perhaps even positively reviewed as a friend, buddy, associate, subordinate or superior.

Aries – The Leaping Ram – “Enough of Me, Let’s Talk About Myself” –

Aries feel the bursting energy of spring running in their veins. That energy is interpreted by the Ram as their very being. They are so full of energy, it is hard for them to disidentify from their own current. When they talk about themselves, and jump to the front of the line, and want first attention, it is just that their energy is overcoming them. It tingles in their nervous system. They are bright, and mount tons of first energy. However, they are not great finishers. They tend to be spent at the finish line. Getting along with them involves listening and waiting for them to move from one subject to the next, to the next, until they are done. This is not to say that all Aries are non-stop talkers. Some Aries are waiting to be heard, and very interested in filling up the air with stories that they have held back. See the Aries as yeah, there is that word — hard headed. Those horns crack together in the sping air, sometimes just to hear the sound of the confrontation. So, don’t get mad at an Aries, like you might a Scorpio. Aries can laugh. They are easy laughers and have basic amiability. So, while you are listening, you can also not take them too seriously. While you are getting irritated, they are moving on to another subject, so don’t mount up a battle that is not going to happen. If you defy them however, they will fight you for the sake of it. So, don’t choose defiance and don’t get in a combative pose. They will get in a stance, dropping their head and moving toward you and make a move off of those back feet, and you can be on your “butt’ before you know it. And then, they will be smiling — cause it was kind of fun. gemini horoscope

While you are listening a little longer than you want to, and patiently nodding as they talk about their favorite topic – themselves, your first moves should be apparently complying nonconfrontational and perhaps a reference to the Aries brightness or cleverness or energy. Getting along with an Aries has much to do with the what you don’t do. First – do no harm. Reinforce their positions to let them easily establish themselves, then, make your points and get done what you need to be done, after the Aries is at peace and moving in the direction they want to. Then, as time passes a bit, their finishing energy waning, they will appreciate your awareness that they might need some help or assistance. Enjoy Aries. Watch them, admire them and let their energy shine. Take advantage of their bursting energy. They certainly won’t drag you down with incessant depressive talk. They are worth the “getting along” effort.

Taurus – The Laconic Bull – “Don’t Mistake My Calm For Weakness” –

Whereas Aries can be a bit offputting at first, Taurus can be deceptively easy at first. Getting along with Taurus will seem to be quite easy. Taurus specializes in control of the outward. Think of the bovine contentment, chewing, digesting, enjoying the sun and mellowing out on the top of the hill. And then without much notice they will put that pointed hoof on the top of your toes and then pivot and tell you that they don’t think that you should 1) take that from them or 2) boss them around or 3) assume that you aren’t going to have to consult them.
